This document explains how licensing, activation, and updates work in Aimogen, including how to migrate from an existing Envato (CodeCanyon) purchase to WPBay. The goal of the new licensing system is to ensure reliable updates, faster releases, and long-term sustainability, without breaking existing installations.
Overview of the Licensing System #
Aimogen uses a license-based activation system to control updates and premium functionality. A valid license is required to receive plugin updates and to unlock all features.
There are currently two licensing paths:
- WPBay licensing (current and future system)
- Envato / CodeCanyon licensing (legacy, temporary support)
Envato-based licensing is supported only during a limited grace period. After that period ends, WPBay licensing becomes mandatory for updates and activation.
WPBay Licensing (Recommended) #
WPBay is the primary licensing and update platform for Aimogen going forward. It allows faster updates, better support tooling, and more flexibility in managing releases.
Activating a WPBay License #
After purchasing Aimogen from WPBay, you receive a license key.
To activate it:
- Go to Aimogen → Activation in your WordPress admin
- Enter your WPBay license key
- Click Activate License
Once activated:
- The plugin unlocks all features
- Automatic updates are enabled
- License status is validated periodically
No reinstallation is required if you are upgrading from Aiomatic or switching from Envato licensing.
Envato / CodeCanyon Customers (Migration Guide) #
If you previously purchased Aiomatic on CodeCanyon, you are eligible to migrate your license to WPBay.
The migration exists because:
- Another company registered the Aiomatic trademark
- The plugin was renamed to Aimogen
- Envato licensing does not support the new long-term update workflow
Grace Period Explained #
After the rename:
- Existing Envato licenses continue to work for a limited grace period
- During this time, Aimogen remains fully functional
- After the grace period ends, Envato licenses will no longer unlock updates or activation
Your site will not break, but you will stop receiving updates until a WPBay license is activated.
Migration Process (Step by Step) #
The migration process is automated and does not require manual approval.
- Visit the license migration page on WPBay
- Enter your CodeCanyon purchase code
- The system validates your purchase automatically
- A personal coupon is generated for you
- Redeem the coupon on WPBay
- Activate the new WPBay license in Aimogen → License
No data, settings, or content are modified during migration.
Migration Coupons #
The value of your coupon depends on your Envato support status:
- You receive a $59 coupon, covering the full yearly Aimogen subscription on WPBay.
Important notes:
- Coupons apply only to yearly subscriptions
- Coupons do not apply to lifetime / one-time licenses
- Coupons are generated automatically and cannot be reused
What Does Not Change After Migration #
Migrating your license does not change:
- Plugin features
- Settings or configuration
- Generated content
- Logs, limits, embeddings, or chat history
- Execution logic or AI providers
- REST API or developer hooks
The migration affects licensing and updates only.
Updates: How They Work #
Once a WPBay license is active:
- Updates appear directly in the WordPress admin
- Minor and major releases are delivered the same way
- No manual downloads are required
If no valid license is active:
- The plugin continues to run
- Updates are blocked
- New features and fixes are unavailable
This ensures site stability while encouraging timely updates.
Switching Between Licenses #
You can deactivate and reactivate licenses at any time from Aimogen → License.
Common scenarios:
- Moving a site from staging to production
- Changing ownership
- Switching from Envato to WPBay
License changes do not require reinstalling the plugin.
Troubleshooting Licensing Issues #
If activation fails:
- Confirm your server allows outbound HTTPS requests
- Check that cURL is enabled
- Make sure your license key is copied exactly
- Verify your system time is correct
License validation issues are logged and visible in the Aimogen status screen.
