AI Content Editor Overview

1 min read

The AI Content Editor is Aimogen’s tool for editing existing WordPress content directly, without previews, staging layers, or AI-specific review screens. When you apply an AI edit, the content is written immediately into the editor. Any ability to revert changes comes entirely from WordPress revisions, not from Aimogen itself.

This is intentional and aligns the editor with native WordPress behavior.

What the AI Content Editor Does #

The editor takes content that already exists and rewrites it based on your instructions. It does not create new posts and it does not automate publishing. Its role is transformation: rewriting, expanding, shortening, correcting, translating, or changing tone.

Once applied, the edited content becomes the current version of the post.

No Preview, No AI Undo #

There is no preview-before-apply mode and no AI-level undo. Aimogen does not store a copy of the previous content, does not keep edit history, and does not offer a revert button.

Applying an edit replaces the selected content immediately.

Reverting Changes Using WordPress Revisions #

Although Aimogen itself has no review or undo system, WordPress revisions do capture AI edits, exactly the same way they capture manual edits, as long as revisions are enabled and supported by the post type.

If revisions are available, you can revert AI edits using the standard WordPress Revisions interface. If revisions are disabled, limited, or purged, the change cannot be undone.

Aimogen neither disables nor modifies revision behavior.

Editing Scope and Safety #

You control the scope of each edit. You can edit a single block, a section, or the entire post. Only the selected content is replaced. Smaller edits create cleaner revision points and make rollback easier if needed.

Provider and Model Behavior #

The AI Content Editor uses the same provider and model system as the rest of Aimogen. A default model is used unless you override it for that edit. Model changes affect only that single action and do not alter global settings.

Editing typically benefits from instruction-following models rather than highly creative ones.

What the AI Content Editor Does Not Do #

It does not create previews, does not save AI drafts separately, does not protect content from being overwritten, and does not manage revision history. All persistence and rollback are handled by WordPress itself.

Recommended Workflow #

Because edits are applied immediately, it’s best to ensure revisions are enabled, save the post before applying AI edits, work in drafts when possible, and apply changes in smaller sections. This keeps revision history useful and minimizes risk.

Summary #

The AI Content Editor edits content directly and immediately. There is no review step and no AI undo. Reverting changes is possible through WordPress revisions, provided they are enabled. Aimogen writes content; WordPress is responsible for protecting it.
