Stable Diffusion Setup

4 min read

Stable Diffusion support in Aimogen allows you to generate images using external Stable Diffusion–based APIs, instead of OpenAI image models. This gives you more flexibility around visual style, realism, artistic control, and model selection. The setup is straightforward, but it’s important to understand what Aimogen does—and does not—manage for you.

Stable Diffusion runs outside WordPress. Aimogen acts as the orchestrator.

What “Stable Diffusion Setup” Means in Aimogen #

Setting up Stable Diffusion means:

  • connecting Aimogen to a Stable Diffusion API provider
  • authenticating with an API key
  • making the provider available as an image engine
  • selecting it where image generation is supported

Aimogen does not host or run Stable Diffusion locally by default.

Supported Stable Diffusion Providers #

Aimogen supports Stable Diffusion through API-based services, most commonly:

  • Stability AI (stability.ai)
  • compatible third-party Stable Diffusion APIs

If a provider exposes a Stable Diffusion-compatible image generation API, Aimogen can typically work with it.

Step 1: Obtain a Stable Diffusion API Key #

You must first create an account with a supported provider and generate an API key.

This happens outside Aimogen, on the provider’s platform.

Aimogen does not create accounts or manage billing.

Step 2: Enter the API Key in Aimogen #

All AI providers, including Stable Diffusion, are configured in one place.

Path:
Aimogen → Settings → API Keys

Paste your Stable Diffusion (or Stability AI) API key into the appropriate field.

Once the key is saved:

  • the provider becomes active automatically
  • available models appear without additional toggles
  • no extra “enable” switch is required

If the key is valid, the provider is ready.

Step 3: Verify Model Availability #

After saving the API key:

  • Stable Diffusion models should appear in image model selectors
  • models may vary depending on provider and plan
  • some models may be restricted by account level

Aimogen does not filter or hide models. Availability comes from the provider.

Step 4: Select Stable Diffusion for Image Generation #

You can now select Stable Diffusion:

  • in AI image generation settings
  • in post generators
  • in bulk generators
  • inside OmniBlocks image steps
  • in the AI Playground

Model selection is per-feature or per-workflow, not global.

Prompting Considerations for Stable Diffusion #

Stable Diffusion is prompt-sensitive in a different way than DALL-E.

Important differences:

  • prompts benefit from descriptive detail
  • style keywords matter more
  • composition guidance is important
  • negative prompts may be supported (provider-dependent)

Aimogen passes prompts as you define them. It does not rewrite them automatically.

Stable Diffusion in OmniBlocks #

In OmniBlocks, Stable Diffusion is usually used:

  • after text generation
  • after concept extraction
  • with dynamically assembled prompts

This allows:

  • consistent visual style
  • content-aligned imagery
  • deterministic pipelines

Image generation becomes part of the execution stream.

Output Handling #

Images generated via Stable Diffusion:

  • are downloaded by Aimogen
  • are saved to the WordPress Media Library
  • behave like normal media files
  • can be reused or edited manually

After generation, Aimogen no longer controls the image.

Performance and Cost #

Stable Diffusion image generation:

  • may be slower than text generation
  • cost depends on provider pricing
  • may vary by image size and model
  • may be rate-limited

Aimogen does not cache images automatically. Regeneration triggers new API calls.

Troubleshooting Common Issues #

If images do not generate:

  • verify the API key is correct
  • confirm the provider account is active
  • check usage or quota limits
  • test generation in the Playground
  • review Aimogen logs for API errors

Most issues are provider-side, not plugin-side.

What Stable Diffusion Setup Does Not Do #

It does not:

  • install Stable Diffusion locally
  • manage GPU resources
  • guarantee image quality
  • enforce brand safety
  • auto-optimize prompts
  • ensure legal clearance of outputs

Aimogen handles orchestration, not infrastructure.

Best Practices #

Use Stable Diffusion when you need more stylistic control than DALL-E provides. Keep prompts explicit, reuse prompt templates, test models before bulk generation, and integrate image generation into OmniBlocks for consistency. Treat image generation as part of your content pipeline, not a random add-on.

Summary #

Stable Diffusion setup in Aimogen consists of connecting a supported Stable Diffusion API provider via an API key entered in Settings → API Keys. Once configured, Stable Diffusion models become available automatically across image generation features. Aimogen orchestrates prompt delivery, image retrieval, and Media Library integration, while the provider handles model execution. When used intentionally, Stable Diffusion offers a powerful and flexible image generation option within structured Aimogen workflows.
